Montreal, February 8, 2024 – A pan-Canadian directory dedicated to women working in the music industry is finally available in French. This directory, which allows for keyword searches, highlights the diversity and talent of women authors, composers, musicians, technicians, organizers, consultants, broadcasters, entrepreneurs, managers, and producers across French-speaking music communities in Quebec and Canada.
We would like to thank DIG! Différences et inégalités de genre dans la musique au Québec for initiating this project, as well as all our sister associations Femmes* en Musique , shesaid.soMTL, Lotus Collective Mtl Coop and the le comité d’action Femmes, Inclusion et Diversité of the Quebec Musicians’ Guild, who have all greatly contributed to the realization of this project.
This initiative aligns with Women in Music Canada’s (WIM) mission to promote a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive music industry. The project, led by MTL Women in music with the collaboration of many partners, including Shanti Loiselle Marketing, was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Musicaction Foundation and the Government of Canada.
With the goal of continuously strengthening the directory and encouraging active participation of cisgender, transgender, and non-binary women, Women in Music Canada offers significant benefits, including access to group medical insurance at preferred rates and advantageous subscriptions to Chart Metrics.
MTL Women in Music invites the entire music and cultural ecosystem in Quebec and French-speaking Canada to use this directory as a key resource to locate any expertise required in the field.
